How to prevent cracks from spreading through the windshield

The cracks in the windshield of the car can be frustrating and a danger to security. Most windshield cracks begin with a small blow of an object such as a rock or stone, while driving. A crack can spread through a windshield, become dangerous and requires immediate replacement. If your windshield has begun to crumble, it may require a repair professional at some point.

Doing so may not result in a serious security risk because your windshield will be greatly weakened. Tips & Warnings:

  • Apply repairs as soon as possible after the crack starts. If the crack has been for more than a month, dirt may have accumulated on it, which could make it impossible to repair at home.
  • Avoid applying products resistant to rain on the windshield after you suffer a fissure. These are wax-based products that help to repel water windshield and reduce the need to use windshield wipers. The wax will flow into the crack and prevent repair resins bind the glass.
  • Cracks large or complex, such as a large rock or baseball, they are not repairable. In these cases, replace the windshield as quickly as possible, as it may break even with a minor hit.
